Well I couldn't help but be worried about Steve when I heard nothing more from him on Monday, what with the phone call of Sunday. I told myself that he was surely staying with Lauren and so was safe, but it was horrible not knowing. I was really worried, but didn't realise how much so until he phoned on Tuesday while I was with a patient. I excused myself and took the call briefly: yes he was safe, and he had an interview at 1pm, and he'd phone me after that.
'Are you alright?' asked the patient, when I put the phone down.'Only you went white, and now you're shaking.' And I was, really badly. That's when I realised how much I'd been worried and how tense I'd been.
So he phoned me after his interview, and now I have to switch to 'for friends only' - for the usual reasons of promises made and secrets to be kept.
